Time Together Older People Social

Time Together project hosts a variety of fun, social activities within Brighton and Hove’s sheltered housing schemes. Older people can experience different challenges when moving into supported accommodation, some of these may include moving away from friends and family, loss of their community and their independence. Many individuals can often be left feeling lonely and isolated. Social isolation can have a negative effect on both the physical and mental wellbeing, Life Times host activities that are recognized in improving wellbeing and quality of life for older people.

The range of activities Time Together facilitates include Boccia, Bowls, Quizzes and seasonal events such as Summer BBQ’s and Halloween Parties. Our volunteers ensure the sessions are accessible for all, spectators at the side are always welcomed and many enjoy cheering on a team with a cup of tea.

“Boccia is always a good laugh. I couldn’t ask for a better team to organize the activity, nothing is ever too much trouble.”

-Boccia player, Walter May House

“We really look forward to our fortnightly Boccia games. We have great fun and the enjoy the light hearted competitiveness of the game. The volunteers are considerate and enjoyable to be around.”

-Boccia spectator, Walter May House

We run sessions weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on location and all are facilitated by a team of dedicated volunteers. Running of activities often includes setting up equipment (e.g. Boccia bowls & table tennis), encouraging the teams throughout and serving refreshments during the break. Volunteering can be a great opportunity to give something back to your community and we run from a variety of locations across the city. Being part of Time Together is a great opportunity to socialise with a fantastic team of volunteers and residents and participate in fun activities!  You may even want to support one of our volunteers by keeping score on the side or joining in if a player short!

We are also always looking for individuals that have an interest or skill such as singing or craft. If you feel you could facilitate your own activity for Time Together, please do contact us on the below details. We are very keen to expand our current activity programme!

If you feel you could spare a few hours weekly or fortnightly and volunteer with us, please contact Life Times at alternatively call us on 01273 694746.
